What to Expect at Your First Osteopathic Consultation
Your first session is designed to give us a full picture of your health and the best way to help you.
Case History & Discussion
We’ll talk through your pain, lifestyle and medical background to understand the root of your concerns. This information is important as it will inform the assessment and any subsequent treatment.
Assessment
We will use palpation and movement-based tests to identify restrictions, asymmetry and tension. You may be asked to perform simple movements, and in some cases a level of undress is required (e.g., shorts for lower limb assessments). Your comfort is always our priority.
Hands-on Treatment
A combination of techniques, tailored to your specific needs, to relieve discomfort and restore function.
Management Plan
Before you leave, we’ll go through your plan forward which may include tailored exercises and advice to get you feeling your best. It is also encouraged that you ask questions so that you get the most out of your appointment.
Massage Therapy
Restore, relieve and rejuvenate with targeted massage techniques.
Therapeutic Massage (45 minutes)
Sports Massage (45 minutes)
Before Your Appointment
Everything you need to know before your visit.
What to Bring
Please bring one hand towel and one larger towel for your comfort during treatment. If you have any previous scans or reports, bring them along for reference.
Do I Need a Referral?
No. Osteopaths are primary healthcare practitioners, which means they are trained to diagnose and treat as well as refer to the appropriate healthcare practitioner when necessary. Osteopathic care does not require a referral from a GP.
Appointment Times
Please note that the appointment times are designed to include a case history, assessment and the treatment itself. The total time reflects all these essential components to ensure we provide the most effective care tailored to your needs.
Payment Options
We accept cash and card payments. Most medical aids may reimburse you for osteopathic treatment, but we recommend checking with your provider.
Cancellation policy
To ensure we can accommodate all our valued patients, we kindly request a 24-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling of appointments. Cancellations made within 24 hours may be subject to a fee.
